Bitcoin and Crypto

Bitcoin

What is Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is a decentralized digital asset that operates on the Bitcoin blockchain.

Bitcoin transactions are recorded on a public network and can be transferred without a traditional bank. Bitcoin is separate from the Solana blockchain on which Pluto currently operates.

Can I trade Bitcoin on Pluto?

Where supported, you may use Cash to buy a Solana-based token intended to represent or track Bitcoin and sell that token back into Cash.

This is not native BTC held directly on the Bitcoin network. Review the specific token information before trading.

Can I deposit native BTC into Pluto?

No. Native BTC cannot be deposited as Cash. Cash can only be funded with supported USDC using the Solana network.

Do not send native BTC through the Bitcoin network to the Solana wallet address displayed in Pluto.

Wrapped and Tokenized Assets

What is a wrapped token?

A wrapped token is a blockchain-based representation of an asset that originates on another blockchain.

For example, a Solana-based representation of Bitcoin may be designed to track BTC while remaining usable on Solana. Wrapped tokens introduce additional risks involving issuers, custodians, bridges, smart contracts and price tracking.

Is a wrapped asset the same as the original asset?

No. A wrapped or tokenized representation is not the same blockchain asset as the original.

Its value and redeemability may depend on the structure, issuer, custodian, bridge or smart contract supporting it.

Stablecoins

What is USDC?

USDC is a US-dollar-denominated stablecoin issued by Circle and supported on multiple blockchains, including Solana.

Pluto displays supported USDC held in your wallet as Cash.

Is Cash guaranteed to remain worth one US dollar?

No digital asset is completely risk-free.

Although USDC is designed to track the value of the US dollar, your Cash balance may be exposed to issuer, banking, regulatory, technical and market risks.
